Biography

Rev. brotherjohn Gaudreau has a unique approach to his art. Photography is for him another aspect of ministry. For years brotherjohn expressed his love for people in his drawings and watercolors. Yet for the past 15 years, he has celebrated the absolute joy of creation through the medium of photography. As he sees it, all of God's created grandeur from the innocence of children, the power of nature and the majesty of this earth in all its splendor is subject matter for his cameras.

brotherjohn's work has appeared in magazines, calenders and greeting cards as well as public exhibits and permanent displays. Images have been captured from North America , Europe, Eastern Europe and Africa. On his compassionate gallery are featured portraits of the dance of intimacy shared between care receivers and their care givers in both hospital and hospice settings.

Most recently, brotherjohn has been priviledged to serve as one of the volunteer

photographers for NILMDTS ( Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation ) which introduces

remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby with the gift free professional

portraiture. These images serve as an important step in the family's healing process by

honoring their child's legacy. Please visit the site https://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org and consider making a contribution.

*Testimony From Les Donahue,

President and CEO

St.Thomas Hospital

John V. Gaudreau, a photographer from Colorado, spent one week

at Saint Thomas taking hundreds of photographs that make up the

“Moments of Mission” exhibition.

Phase one of the exhibit consists of 20x30 framed photographs displayed

along the main hospital hallway, between the Skybridge and

the Gift Shop. Photographs are also on display in the administration area hallway.

Phase two will begin in May, with the addition of more “Moments of Mission” photographs

placed on the second floor between the visitor elevators and the Emergency

Department.

“Our associates are proud of the last 111 years. This is ‘their’ hospital and it shows in

these powerful images,” said Les Donahue, President and CEO of Saint Thomas Hospital.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our birthday than displaying the care

our associates, volunteers and physicians provide.”

The “Moments of Mission” exhibition will be on display through this year. Visitors are

welcome to visit the hospital and view the free exhibit.
